Lauren Hooper is a singer, actress, dancer, writer, known for her rich and soul-stirring voice, luminous smile and glowing stage presence. Lauren most recently starred as Esther Mills in Colorado's regional premiere of Intimate Apparel for which she was nominated for a Henry Award for Outstanding Actress in a Play. Some of Lauren's on-stage credits include Dorothy Dandridge: Hollywood’s Sepia Goddess, Ragtime, Dreamgirls, and The Wild Party, while her on-screen credits include Law & Order: SVU, Shades of Blue, For Colored Boys, King of Paper Chasin', and Lenox Ave. Lauren has also done on-screen and print modeling for TRESsemé, Gina Made It and various NYC-based stylists and boutique clothing stores.
An East Coast girl at heart (born in South Carolina and raised in New Jersey), Lauren headed West to pursue her passion for musical theater at The University of Michigan where she was mentored by world renowned opera singer Shirley Verrett. Capable of singing everything from opera to jazz, from musical theater to R&B, Lauren continues to fine tune her acting and vocal techniques with Aaron Hagan, Bob Krakower, Andrew Stewart-Jones, and Tony Award winner Victoria Clark.
When she's not performing, Lauren spends her free time digging in her garden with her husband + son (weather permitting), finding balance on her yoga mat, obsessing over her family tree or catching up on her favorite shows (which recently include Jane the Virgin, Homeland, Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and Super Soul Sunday).
